Bible lesson

Ok, I am rip shit pissed off right now. I can’t even begin to explain how much I want to kill everyone involved, even remotely, with the RNC 9/11 tribute video (see post below) which aired tonight at the white supremacist nazi party Retardlican convention in St. Paul. I am not going to go into how I was in New York on that day. I am not going to go on and on about why it is so wrong to use 9/11 as a political play thing. I am not going to go on and on about how the scare mongering has to stop. I am not going to chastise the Retardlicans for squandering away the last eight years. The last eight years when we should have been building a better, more peaceful, greener world but instead started a war to get more fossil fuels and to “spread” torture democracy.

What I will talk about is the fact that the RNC and its members have proven to me tonight that they are morally bankrupt. I have suspected as much for years now starting with Pat Buchanan’s hate speech in 1992. By the way this is the party which is supposedly the true Christian party. The one controlled by evangelicals. The ones who consider themselves to be morally superior to Democrats and believe god is on their side. So I have a few questions for these moral giants which walk among us:

Have you ever turned the other cheek?

Are you truly without sin? Is that why you are continually casting stones?

Why do you hate so much?

What would Jesus do? Follow up question: Why the fuck don’t you ever do what Jesus would?

Where is your brother? I’ll answer this one for you–I am right here in front of you. I am your brother. I am your sister. All of us, every single human being is your brother and sister. You? You are my brother. You are my sister. And yes we are all our brother’s keeper. Your god did not make any exceptions for this. Non-believer or believer there is no difference. We are all each others keeper.

I want to leave you with a little passage from the bible. It concerns love and I encourage you to take it to heart (thats the organ that pumps blood and metaphorically houses the soul and your emotions). In four years when you gather again (hopefully as the defeated party) I pray that you have learned a little something about what it means to be a member of the human species. And I hope that you will not be filled with such vile hatred for your brothers and sisters. It is a lot to ask but remember your god gave his only son Jesus so that he could give his life for you. The least you could do is respect the wishes of Jesus and “love your neighbor as yourself”, no matter who that neighbor is (once again there are no exceptions). I am a non-believer but the following is something that we can all believe in and should believe in.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13

1If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
